March Newsletter

As per the email sent earlier this month Templeton courts are closed, indefinitely. Separate advices will issue when we are able to re-open the courts and  competition recommence.

We would take this opportunity to wish you, your respective families and friends a virus free time. Don’t forget to wash your hands and only venture out as necessary.

Summer Update:

Our summer season finished over the weekend of  21st/22nd March. This season we saw 12 of our 15 junior sides and 2 of our 5 senior teams play finals. A fantastic effort! This led to us as a club being 6th on the WDTA Premier Club award which in itself is a wonderful achievement. The seniors both missed out on reaching the grand finals but 8 of the 12 juniors went through. Of these 4 were premiers and 4 were runners up. Again a wonderful result and congratulations to all those involved; players, team managers parents, coaches and convenors.

Winter Season:

Before all competitions were cancelled we had entered 16 junior and 6 senior teams in various competitions. Whether this actually turns into reality only time will tell! Albeit we do not know what delays will occur with the season when we resume we will have to use outside courts for a period of time, see comment under works below.

Mountain Gate tennis club have graciously agreed for us to use two courts for Saturday afternoon competition and we are looking at the possibility of using newly laid and lit courts at the High School for some junior games.

We thank our sponsors, who have again expressed their interest in renewing their relationship with our club; Barry Plant Wantirna and Integrity Cabinets for their continued support.

Remember these people support your club and our way to reward them is to use their services.

Don’t forget to mention the Clubs name.

Further details are available on our website www.templetontennis.com.au

We have received advice from Council that the proposed works previously advised have been scheduled to begin on the 4th May 2020 with a proposed finish time of early November 2020. Accordingly, there will be a reduction in to 5 courts, as a minimum, during the works.

Of course at this time we cannot tell what effect the virus will have but at this time all is on course.

We cannot express strongly enough our thanks and gratitude to Council and look forward to our complex being a “jewel in the crown” for tennis in Knox.
