Templeton Tales

March Newsletter

Who would have thought!  This time last year we were closing down due to the Covid 19 virus and unsure of where we were going or what was to happen with tennis as well as our lives. Here we are back on deck having played a shortened summer competition and looking forward to a full winter season.

Summer Update:

Our summer season finished over the weekend of  27th/28th  March. This season we saw 13 of our 17 junior sides and 2 of our 3 senior teams play finals. A fantastic effort! This led to us as a club being 2nd on the WDTA Premier Club award which in itself is a wonderful achievement. Both senior teams were runners up and 7 of the 12 juniors went through to grand finals.

Of these 2 were premiers and 5 were runners up. Again a wonderful result and congratulations to all those involved; players, team managers parents, coaches and convenors.

Winter Season:

We have submitted 17 junior and 4 senior teams in this coming winter season. This is an additional 3 teams on the last summer season with some 17 new players. It is great to see the increasing interest in tennis and particular our club.

We thank our sponsors, who have again expressed their interest in renewing their relationship with our club; Barry Plant Wantirna and Integrity Cabinets for their continued support.

Remember these people support your club and our way to reward them is to use their services.

Don’t forget to mention the Clubs name.

Further details are available on our website www.templetontennis.com.au

They are complete, the courts that is. We still have some work to do with beautification of the new areas but the major works are complete. Refer photo.

It is now up to us to ensure that these brand new facilities are looked after and respected. In particular the nets. They are not places to be lent or sat on or rested against. Please ensure you walk around the net at all times, not step over by pushing the net down.

We complement both council and the contractors for their efforts during different times for everyone in getting this major project completed.

We most sincerely offer our thanks to council for their strong financial support of not only our club but also tennis in general.
